Dr.
Linda F. Cornelious is
a Professor in the Department of Instructional Systems, Leadership,
and Workforce
Development
at Mississippi State
University, Starkville, Mississippi. She was named the 2003 Mississippi
State University Outstanding Faculty Woman of the Year by the
President’s Commission on the Status of Women. During 1999-2000
she was the William Allen (Boeing Company) Endowed Chair and
Distinguished Professor of Education at Seattle University. A
native of Minden, Louisiana, she received her bachelor of science
degree in Business Education and Office Administration from Southern
University and A & M College in Baton Rouge, LA. She also
earned a master’s degree in secondary education and a Plus
30 in special education from Southern University. Her education
specialist and doctorate were earned from the Florida State University,
Tallahassee, FL.
Linda is author and co-author of numerous
publications, including a Phi Delta Kappa Fastback entitled, “Win-Win Discipline.” She
served a three-year term as a Consulting Editor for the Journal of
Educational Research, and currently serves as a Consulting Editor
for the E-Journal of Teaching and Learning in Diverse Settings. She
is a member of the Board of Examiners for the National Council for
Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and holds membership in
other national organizations and associations including, the American
Association of Colleges for Teacher Education, American Educational
Research Association, Association of Teacher Educators, Honor Society
of Phi Kappa Phi, Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development,
Delta Pi Epsilon, Association of Career and Technical Education,
National Business Education Association, Phi Delta Kappa International,
Southern Business Education Association, and Mid-South Educational
Research Association. She has served on the Board of Directors for
the Mid-South Educational Research Association, and holds a Phi Delta
Kappa International appointment as the Chapter Member Liaison and
Coordinator for Region Gj, serving PDK Chapters in North Mississippi.
For a number of years, Dr. Cornelious has served the MSU chapter
of PDK holding a number of leadership positions. Linda is also a
member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
Dr.
Cornelious has been the recipient of many prestigious honors
and awards, including the Phi Delta Kappa
Service Key. In
2001, she
was recognized with a Bessie Gabbard Award Celebrating the Leadership
of Women by Phi Delta Kappa International. The award honored
practicing educators excelling in professional, civic and community
service
activities. At Mississippi State University, Dr. Cornelious
has also earned a number of honors, including the Phi Delta Kappa
Outstanding
Educator of the Year Award, the Kappa Award of Excellence for
Leadership and Service to Mississippi Education, and Phi Delta
Kappa’s
Outstanding University Faculty Awards for Teaching and Service.
In addition, she has received the College of Education Outstanding
Award
for Graduate Level Teaching, College of Education Alumni Association’s
Outstanding Award for Leadership and Service, and the Doctoral
Student Association’s Outstanding Technology and Education
Faculty Award. Dr. Cornelious has also received a certificate
of recognition
from the State of Mississippi Board of Trustees, Institutions
of Higher Learning in recognition of exceptional leadership and
commitment
to excellence in education and promoting diversity within the
university and the community.
Linda serves on a large number of departmental, college and university
committees at Mississippi State University. She has been an active
participant, regular presenter, and presider at national, regional,
and state professional association conferences. Her scholarly interest
encompasses educational evaluation and measurement, faculty governance,
classroom discipline and management, teaching and learning styles,
multicultural education, and community service learning.
